Cricket may be included in 2024 Olympics. File Pic[/caption]Internet Desk: Italy may open the opportunity for cricket to be a part of Olympics. President of Italian cricket board declared their firm decision to place the proposal of placing cricket within Olympics if they get a chance to host the Olympics 2024. There is a similar nod from the International Cricket Council simultaneously.
Rome is along with the bidding cities for Olympics 2024. Apart from Rome there are Los Angeles, Paris and Budapest in the run. According to rules the hosting city will have the opportunity to include five new sports, if they fall under the regulation, to the queue of
Olympics games. The rule says the game has to be played by 16 to 12 teams spread all over the world.
Federazione Cricket Italiana President Simone Gambino declared if Rome hosts the games then Cricket will be played in 2024 Olympics. The cricket organization of Italy has firmly taken the decision to include cricket. As per their decision getting a chance, Rome will bring back the history of 124 years’ past.
During the ongoing ICC annual meeting held at Edinburgh, Simone Gambino declared the decision of Italia. At the same time International Cricket Council also stood by the side of Rome. Officials of ICC declared that if Rome hosts the Olympics cricket will be played at Bologna. This is the city where matches of World Cricket League Division Four were played in 2010.
Apart from Rome if the Olympics 2024 is held at Los Angeles if may be worthy for cricket. United States of America is already a member of ICC. Member of United States of America Cricket Council also expressed interest over fan following of cricket.
