IPL Retention 2018: All you need to know

Internet Desk: Indian Premier League will organise player retention ceremony today at Mumbai. Rajasthan Royals and Chennai Super Kings will play this edition of IPL after two years of suspensions. Virat Kohli of Royal Challengers Bengalore and Mahendra Singh Dhoni of Chennai Super Kings can be retained by respective IPL franchises.

Amitabh Chaudhary BCCI acting Secretary, IPL Chairman Rajiv Shukla, and the owners of all the eight teams will be present at the show. RCB wants to AB de Villiers and Yuzvendra Chahal too but, money is the main issue for the team management. If they look to retain those players then they will have little money to spend.

Two overseas players, maximum of three capped Indian players and two uncapped Indian players. Only CSK and RR can retain their players who were in 2015 season of IPL and who were part of Rising Pune Supergiants and Gujrat Lions squads in the last year of IPL.

The salary cap raised for this season. 80 crore fixed for that and will increase to Rs 82 and 85 crores respectively in 2019 and 2020 season.

One franchise have to spend 75 percent of the salary cap for each season. The player retention price guideline for salary cap charged has also been set as Rs 33 crore (for 3 players pre-auction), Rs 21 crore (for 2 players pre-auction) and Rs 12.5 crore (for 1 player retained pre-auction).

Each squad can have maximum 25 players including 8 overseas players and minimum of 18 in the squad.
