Bad news for MS Dhoni at the start of New Year?

Internet Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has proposed a new gradation structure for the players. As per this a player who is playing in all three formats of the game successfully will get A+ and other will be in A, B or C categories. According to the sources India’s former World Cup winning captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni may miss the top grade as he had retired from Test back in 2014.

Dhoni is the only cricketer who won two World Cups in two formats of the game for team India as the skipper. He is still one of the best finishers in the limited overs format of the game.

Not only Dhoni but also other seven cricketers are in top “A” category who gets 2 crores per year from the board. The new structure was proposed by the Committee of Administrators (CoA)  after Indian captain Virat Kohli and Coach Ravi Shastri met them in November and requested to hike their payment.

The payment hike issue is not new in Indian cricket as former coach Anil Kumble also raised the same question and complaint that the players didn’t get much share from BCCI’s revenue.

However the gradation system yet to get finalised by BCCI. Although, cricketers like Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja might be in A+ category on the basis of ICC rankings as Jadeja and Ashwin are holding the third and fourth spot respectively in the ICC rankings.
