The ‘King of Good Times’ apart from being booed and asked to ‘return the money’.
Mallya who has now sought refuge in England from the Indian Government after unpaid dues accounting to 9000 crore was present to watch the India Vs Pakistan match which was held at the Edgbaston.
He was also present on June 6 at Virat Kohli’s charity dinner. He had earlier said that he would attend all India’s matches and would support his country.
Mallya who use to own an IPL team named Royal Challengers Bangalore, is also captained by the Indian skipper Virat Kohli, who was also uncomfortable by Mallya’s presence in his charity event according to a BCCI source.
"Look, Virat or his foundation never invited Mallya at the function. But normally what happens at the charity dinner is that someone who has bought a table is entitled to invite his guests. Similarly, someone who bought a table must have invited him," a top BCCI source present at the function told.
"The Indian team wasn't comfortable and they maintained a dignified distance from Mallya. Mallya's presence is one of the reasons that team left early. The players were very uncomfortable. It was an unavoidable situation as one couldn't have possibly asked him to leave," the source said.
