Australia will miss the presence of Mitchell Starc, says Sourav. File Pic[/caption]Kolkata: The BCCI on Thursday decided to withdraw their complaint against Aussie skipper Steve Smith and his partner Peter Handscomb regarding the controversial DRS referral which had happened in the second Test at Bengaluru.
After a long drama finally both the boards have decided to resolve the DRS issue to put focus back on cricket. On being asked about the matter, former India skipper and CAB President Sourav Ganguly laughed and quoted a famous dialogue from Shah Rukh Khan’s Blog buster movie Om Shanti Om,” Aaj mujhe yakeen hogaya doston, ki hamari zindagi bhi hamare hindi filmon ke jaisa hi hai.. jaha pe end mein sab kuch theek ho jaata hai”.. “Happies Endings”
On Friday, Australia faced a huge blow as their premier fast bowler Mitchell Starc has been sent back home after suffering a stress fracture on his right foot and will miss the remaining two Test matches. Starc is another player added to the injury list after all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was ruled out of the series with a shoulder injury.
According to Sourav, Starc’s injury is more painful than Marsh for the touring side as he was the most lethal bowler for his side.” I think Australia will miss Starc’s service more than Mitchell Marsh. He could play a huge role for Australia in the last two Test matches and in my view Australia will miss his presence in the field in the remaining Test matches,” said Sourav.
During Sourav Ganguly or Rahul Dravid’s era India preferred to play on a spinning track as they had some great players who could play spin very well and they had the service of legendary spinners like Anil Kumble and Harbhajan Singh. But in this series vs Australia most of Indian batsmen failed to show their batting skills against the Aussies. Answering to the media Sourav said,” We played on a spinning track during our time but now you can see Kohli’s men are palying on a track which is a rank turner. So the wicket is a lot more different from that time.”
