Three Bengal lads get a call-up in India squad for ACC Emerging Cup

Internet Desk: Three players from Bengal Cricket Team will be a part of the Indian Team which will take part in the Asian Cricket Council's Emerging Cup tournament in Bangladesh starting from March 25. The senior selection committee announced the team on Friday.

Abhimanyu Easwaran, Amir Gani and Kanishk Seth will be a part of the Indian squad along with 12 other players. Baba Aparajith will the side in the tournament and Ankush Bain’s from Himachal Pradesh has been named his deputy. Easwaran was very happy for getting a chance to represent India.” After playing for Bengal, I am getting this blue jersey for my country. It is a proud moment for me and I am looking forward to perform well for my country,” Abhimanyu said.

Earlier it was said that the tournament will be played from March 15 to 26, but later the organizers shifted the starting date to March 25, so all three Bengal players can represent their state team in the Vijay hazare Trophy quarter-final against Maharashtra on March 15 at Delhi.

The emerging cup is an eight-team, 50-over tournament authorized by the Asian Cricket Committee, scheduled to be played in Dhaka. Essentially an Under-23 tournament, the tournament rules allow India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to feature up to four senior national players. The four other teams - Afghanistan, UAE, Hong Kong, Nepal - will play their full-strength national sides.

ACC Emerging Cup squad: A R Eswaran, Prithvi Shaw, Shubham Gill, Baba Aparajith (c), Hanuma Vihari, Virat Singh, Shivam Chowdhary, Ankush Bains (vice-captain, wk), R Chahar, Mayank Dagar, Amir Gani, Aswin Crist, K. R. Sashikanth, Nagarkoti, Kanishk Seth.
