Internet Desk: The Indian national selection committee members chaired by MSK Prasad will meet in Mumbai on Tuesday to select the Indian Test squad for the upcoming four match Test series against Australia, which begins from 23rd February in Pune. As India is going through a dream run winning 8 of their last 9 home Tests, it is expected that the selectors will not do much changes in the squad. All eyes will be on Mohammed Shami, as he is expected to make a return to the Indian side after recovering from a knee injury, which he sustained in the recently concluded India- England Test series. Umesh Yadav, Ishant Sharma and Bhuvneshwar Kumar all were in good form against Bangladesh, but the selectors know that Shami is still reckoned as the spearhead of the pace battery of Indian cricket.

"Shami has been recovering well and he is expected to be fit for the series. The selectors are assessing his fitness. They will see how it goes and there is no question of rushing him in. He was also advised by the selectors to skip the ongoing Syed Mustaq Ali T20 tournament to ensure full recovery. If he has recovered well, he will certainly figure in the list," a source close to the selection committee told the media.

Shami, who was out due to a knee injury during the England series, is also the choice of the team management, sources insisted. "He is very important player for India in Tests and if he is fit, his place in the team is almost guaranteed," the source added.

Sources also added that the selectors would meet in the morning session under the direction of BCCI CEO Rahul Johri, like it happened twice before. "The administrators are not the ones who are making the right choice. The timing of the selection meeting is fine. The selectors could have met on February 15 also, but the convenient things would be done first under these administrative rule," the source added.
