Image Source: XtraTime[/caption]Kolkata: Today CAB Sub Committee held a meeting discussing on the issue of the complaints which were reported by the match observers last week during the CAB 1st division and 2nd division league matches. The complaints which were reported were tussle between players and umpires and today it was the judgment day.
Amongst the 12 players who were accused of such misbehaviour, only Abhijit Ganguly of Police AC has been handed an one match suspension. Abhijit was accused of abusing the umpire during the Rajasthan vs Police AC match. But the question which automatically arises is that after Abhijit being questioned on his behaviour several times before, why has he been only handed an one match ban. The cab officials are the best person to answer this question. Cab officials said that they have heard each party's explanation and one accused player did not come to attend the hearing.
CAB Joint Secretary Abhishek Dalmiya was quoted as saying, "According to CAB rules there is no law of paying monetary penalty so this was the best decision which was made. Its nothing personal."
Cricketer Abhijit Ganguly, who was suspended was not happy with the decision as he tried to defend himself saying, "I have been playing club cricket for the last 25-26 yrs. I have played for big clubs like East Bengal, Mohun Bagan and Aryan as well but never there were any questions raised regarding my behaviour or conduct on the field. But I don’t know what happened this time around. Whatever I have done I did for the sake of my team. Now if cab thinks I am guilty then it’s unfortunate and I obey CAB rules and will accept their decision."
