Ravi Shastri resigns from Anil Kumble 'led' ICC Cricket Committee

Internet Desk: Ravi Shastri resigns from the ICC Cricket Committee which was headed by Team India coach Anil Kumble. Sources said that, the 53-year old former Team India director expressed his desire to leave the membership earlier. However, the exact date of his filing the resignation is not clear.

However, according to sources, Shastri left the membership after he was not selected as the head coach of Team India.  Sources also say that, Anil Kumble's appointment as the head coach defeating Ravi Shastri, which resulted in his resignation from the ICC Cricket committee. Few days back Shastri accused CAC member Sourav Ganguly of not being present during his interview and in reply the very next day Ganguly too hit back at Shastri saying that he must be residing in the fool's world. However, there is no reason to claim that there is any link between the two incidents.

Ravi Shastri was the member of the committee for the past six years. Previously it was reported that Shastri wanted to resign from the membership to bring fresh face in the committee. He was the media representative of the cricket committee. He wanted to reduce administrative responsibilities by leaving the membership.

Today Ravi Shastri cleared his reason for quitting from the membership. “I have already submitted my resignation. I have personal commitments and I have been there for the past six years,” Shastri told to PTI.


According to sources, Ravi Shastri did not join the last meeting of the ICC Cricket Committee of  scheduled from 2nd-3rd June at Lords focusing personal assignment. He also spoke to ICC Chairman, Shashank Manohar about his resignation.
