Ajay Jayaram only hope in US Open Badminton as he reached semis

Internet Desk: Among bunch of shuttlers only one reached the last four of US Open Badminton Championship yesterday. With less than one month in hand to the Rio Olympics it is a very bad news for India as doubles players Manu Attri, Sumeeth Reddy failed to reach the semifinal.

Yesterday two singles shuttlers and two pairs of doubles players competed in the quarterfinal matches. Unfortunately according to the draw table two Indian singles players faced each other.  One had to lose to other. But the two pairs of doubles of men and women also lost their matches.

Top seeded pair Manu Attri and Sumeeth Reddy lost to Japanese doubles shuttlers Takur Hoki and Yugo Kobayashi in their quarterfinal match. They lost the match by three sets. The only Rio bound doubles men’s pair won their first set but lost the trailing two by 18-21 21-7 21-16.

Ajay Jayaram own his singles match against Anand Power by 21-11 21-11. He is to play against Kanta Tsuneyama of Japan in his semifinal match today. Ajay completed the match against his country friend within 30 minutes.

In another match women’s doubles players Jakkampudi Meghana and S. Poorvisha lost to Paula Lynn Obanana and Eva Lee of USA. They lost the match within 38 minutes by 21-15 21-12.
