Match Fixing allegations: CBI to investigate, two East Bengal officials to face interrogations?

Kingfisher East Bengal might be in a spot of bother, as the parental body of Indian football has officially handed over the investigation of match fixing allegations against East Bengal to The CBI. Former East Bengal footballer Alvito D'Cunha and goalkeeper coach Abdul Siddiqi could also face CBI interrogations.

The All India Football Federation (AIFF) has referred to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the complaint made by Minerva Punjab FC that their players were approached for match-fixing during the just-concluded I-League.

The newly-crowned champions Minerva Punjab on two occasions — one in January and the other earlier this month — had alleged match-fixing approaches.

“Regarding the first approach relating to the alleged phone calls made to the Minerva players and the support staff, we have handed the information and the details to the CBI,”

As per the information, it is learnt that the Minerva players who were allegedly approached for the match fixing, are Souvik Das, Willian Opoku, Abhishek Ambedkar, Sukhdev Singh, Kassim Aidara, Rakshit Dagar and Chencho.
