FIFA WC 2018: Incredible! Barcelona set to create a new record in Russia

XtraTime Web Desk: Football Club Barcelona had a fantastic record in the recently concluded La Liga season as the just lost one game among the 38 matches they played.  The record doesn’t end here as they are going to create another record in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2018.

The Spanish giants have become the first ever club to have at least one player in every group at the World Cup.

Group A

Barcelona just has one player in the group A and that will be the Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez. The star striker not had a very good record in his first couple of World Cup campaigns. In 2010 Uruguay faced Ghana in the semi-finals Suarez saved a shot with his hands in the dying minutes of the match.

In 2014 the striker bit Italy’s star defender Giorgio Chiellini and created a massive controversy.

Group B

In Group B there are many players from Barcelona as Spain is in the group. Including legendry midfielder Andres Iniesta, who played his last match for Barcelona a few days back. Gerard Pique, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets have all been named in the Spain squad alongside the man who scored the winning goal in 2010.

Group C

Ousmane Dembele and Samuel Umtiti will play for France and they surely have a lot to prove as they replaced Alexandre Lacazette and Anthony Martial in the national team squad.

Group D

Argentine Superstar Lionel Messi and Croatian central midfielder Ivan Rakitic will play in this World Cup for their respective nations. Rakitic will play his second World Cup. It could be Lionel Messi’s last chance to get his hands on the most desired trophy in football.

Group E

Five times World Champions Brazil has Philippe Coutinho and Paulinho in their squad who plays for Barcelona.

Group F

Germany selected Barcelona Goalkeeper Marc Andre Ter-Stegen ahead of their star shot-stopper Manuel Neuer as Neuer didn’t play a match for last six months for his injury.

Group G

Former Arsenal captain Thomas Vermaelen is the only player in Group G who plays for Barcelona.

The Belgian defender featured 20 times for Barca this season and played an important role in Barca’s unbeaten run as he took the place of the often injured Samuel Umtiti.

Group H

Colombian defender Yerry Mina signed for Barcelona in the January transfer window.
