Kolkata: Indian Premier League Season 11 is just knocking the door and most of the team’s have already started their practice to prepare themselves for the cash rich league. A few cricketers of two-time Indian Premier League Champions Kolkata Knight Riders met with the fans, to interact with them. After that in a press-meet KKR star spinner Piyush Chawla opened up about the newly appointed captain of KKR, Dinesh Karthik. After seven long years Kolkata Knight Riders, Gautam Gambhir have left the team to play for his home side Delhi Daredevils and in his absence, the KKR management have picked Karthik through auction and announced him as the new captain of the team. Though Chawla feels that, Karthik is an experienced campaigner and he will lead the side well.

“I haven’t played that much under him. I have only played one league game under him, but league is different and IPL is different. But he is an experienced campaigner who has done pretty well and right now the way he is playing, that confidence will help the side as well,” said Chawla.

Sunil Narine has been an x factor in the KKR squad for a long period of time. Chawla feels that the combination between him and the West Indian will be good as it was earlier.”When I joined KKR, Sunil was already present in the team and he was taking wickets and beside him I was also picking wickets. That time the combination worked really well. After that match referees called him for some action issues, but the best thing is how he came back. The effectiveness of his bowling was still the same. After that the team management started giving him the chance to play on a safer side. When you play on a safer side, it’s a bit difficult for the bowler, but on the other hand it gives other bowlers more chance to take wickets. As the batsmen try to take chances on those bowlers and it gives the opportunity to pick up wickets,” added Chawla.

KKR has always been regarded as one of the best bowling side in the tournament and according to Chawla this year is no different as well.”I think the bowling department is quite good and we are not depending on two or three bowlers. If you see the bowling line-up, all the bowlers are wicket takers, that’s what the main thing in this shorter format.”

Chawla lauded Indian cricket team’s ace chinaman spinner Kuldeep Yadav and said it is great to have him again in the team.” He has been bowling really well in this season for India, domestic and anywhere else he has bowled so far. The kind of bowler he is, he will definitely do well.”
