XtratTime Web Desk: Dinesh Karthik, announced as the skipper of Kolkata Knight Riders in this season of Indian Premier League (IPL). Dinesh will play for the first time for Kolkata as Shah Rukh Khan’s team bought him for 7.4 Crores in the auction. www.xtratime.in broke the news yesterday.

Robin Uthappa and Aussie power-hitter Chris Lynn were in the race but, unfortunately during a T20I match against New Zealand Lynn’s shoulder was dislocated and his participation in the forthcoming season of IPL is in doubt.

KKR CEO Venki Mysore announced the name. Karthik said,” We have many match winners in our side. Not only the foreign players but also some U-19 Indian boys who performed brilliantly in the recently concluded U-19 World Cup are in KKR team. My job is to getting the best out of them."

"Ricky Ponting Helped me by showing how to take right decisions in difficult conditions. I want to follow it." Karthik said.

“The team that Gambhir led in the last seven years, I think he's done a fabulous job. He’s left a sort of legacy which is the kind of thing I'd like to do, where you leave the team in good hands, and you take a team that was probably doing well and take it to a different level altogether. I would definitely like to be a part of that journey."Karthik added,

"To come in at this role is really exciting for me," Uthappa said after getting the role of Vice- captain. "I'm sure all of Kolkata will be right behind DK, as will I and as will the rest of the team. I'm going to be available to DK anytime he needs me, always ready to share my inputs. DK and I have known each other since our Under-17 days, so looking forward to working with him" later he added.

This year IPL will start from April 7 in Mumbai.
