Ranji Trophy 2017-18: Bengal to face mighty Delhi in the semis

Internet Desk: Rishabh Pant led Delhi cricket team becomes the second team to reach the semifinals today after they beat Madhya Pradesh by 7 wickets in the quarterfinals of the Ranji Trophy.  Chasing a total of 217 to win, veteran Gautam Gambhir played a knock of 95 runs in the second innings to take his side home.

The Indian international came to bat at number three instead of opening in the second innings after Vikas Tokas went back to the pavilion after scoring just six. They will face Bengal in the big semifinals who are on their way to knocking out defending Champions Gujarat at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium, in Jaipur. Both the side will face each other at the MCA Stadium in Pune from December 17.

Bengal will miss the players like, Wriddhiman Saha and Mohammad Shami in the crucial encounter on the other hand Delhi won’t get the service of their pace spearhead Ishant Sharma as they all will go to South Africa to play the Test series.

After winning this match, Delhi has registered their fourth win in this competition. In Group A they ended the in second as Karnataka topped the group.

In the last season, both Delhi and Bengal failed to reach the knock out stages in last season.
