Kohli on a milestone breaking rampage as India ends Day 1 on a high note

Internet Desk: India displayed a dominating performance in the first day of the third test held at Delhi against Sri Lanka as India's run getting machine Virat Kohli broke records on a frenzy. With ending the day at a mammoth score of 371-4 India showed yet again that they are eager to win the series as early as possible despite the fact that Sri Lanka bagged two wickets in quick succession.

With Murali Vijay and skipper both scoring 150+ in the first innings, the Lankan bowlers were hit hard in all parts of the field.

India lost their first two wickets by the 20th over after Dhawan and one down Pujara were dismissed on 23. However opener Murali Vijay and Virat Kohli went on went on to score a massive 283 runs partnership which turned the tide in India’s favour

Murali Vijay scored a brilliant 155 with 13 boundaries despite the fact that he got dismissed in the flag end of the day.

Kohli went on to register a milestone as he became the fourth fastest Indian to score 5000 test runs. Kohli also became the first international captain to hit three successive hundreds in a three-Test series. Kohli also scored his maiden century in his home ground as his century off 110 balls and the half-century off 52 balls were his individual fastest scores in the longest format of the game.

Not just his 20th ton, Kohli went on to end the day not out on 156 which consisted of 16 boundaries.

As for the Lankan bowlers, Gamage and Perera took one each while two late lbw strikes from wrist spinner Lakshan Sandakan saw Vijay and Rahane falling as the victims.
