Salt Lake stadium to get an increased security which happens to be the first in the history of Indian football

Kolkata: Kolkata's Yuva Bharati Krirangan aka the Salt Lake Stadium lay witness to one of the best games of the ongoing FIFA U17 World Cup clash between Brazil and Germany. However there were a couple of unruly scenes at the stadium despite of the fact that the game was a huge success. It has been reported that after Brazil scored the second goal owing to a brilliant shot from Paulinho, overexcited fans threw water pouches at the stadium and it was seen a lot of chairs were broken after the conclusion of the game.

And to prevent such events from happening in the near future, stern measures would be taken as per reports from the Police Commissioner of Bidhannagar Police, Deputy Commissioner Santosh Pandey and DCDT Sabri Rajkumar.

"Apart from the fact that CCTVs have been installed in every blocks of the stadium, Stewards would be kept in every blocks in civil dresses who would be carrying high resolution cameras in their chests" said Santosh Pandey.

The presence of Steward in the field is not a common sight in foreign football but it certainly is a eye catcher in Indian football. For the first time in the history of Indian football Stewards would be present in the semi final and the final at the Salt Lake Stadium. Each block will have 2 Stewards, totalling to 24 Stewards, however as per reports almost 30 Stewards will be appointed for the upcoming games.

"Anyone causing damage to the stadium property or others would be easily pointed out and identified and once caught apart from the fact that legal actions would be taken, the concerned person would be banned from life to enter the Salt Lake Stadium" said the Police.

The match which is scheduled to start from 5PM will get over at 7PM, a question rises regarding the traffic congestion in the city. However the Police has advised spectators arriving from Barasat, North 24 Parganas, Nadia and other places to avail the Airport and Rajarhat-Newtown route.
