Exclusive: Indian archery legend Dola Banerjee to start her new venture

Kolkata: India’s star archer Dola Banerjee will retire soon from the circuit. She is eyeing to become a coach after her retirement to bring more archers like her from Bengal.

The prestigious Arjuna Award winner has no tournament right now and she is looking forward to start a training centre for the archers. Dola has got a place beside Bengal Rowing Club and she might start her centre there.

Dola made the country proud in various occasions. She won a gold medal in the Archery World Cup back in 2007 in the individual event. Though she failed to win any medal in 2008 Beijing Olympics but in 2010 Commonwealth Games she performed very well on her home soil where she won a gold medal in group event and also won a bronze individually. After her successful campaign in the Commonwealth Games she also won a bronze in Asian Games in same year.

Dola’s brother Rahul Banerjee is also a very good archer and an Arjuna Award winner too. In the 2010 Commonwealth Games he won a gold medal in the individual event.
