Champions Trophy: Shikhar Dhawan breaks the famous record of Sourav Ganguly

Internet Desk: India’s star opener Shikhar Dhawan persistently maintained his superb form while batting against Bangladesh in the semi-finals of ICC Champions Trophy 2017.

Dhawan has now surpassed Sourav Ganguly’s enviable record to become India’s highest run-scorer in ongoing Champions Trophy. He has been scoring at impressive batting average of over 100.

Sourav Ganguly (665 runs), Rahul Dravid (627 runs) and Sachin Tendulkar (441 runs) now stand at 2nd, 3rd and 4th spots respectively.

Dhawan scored 46 runs against Bangladesh. It took him only 34 balls to reach this statistic including 6 fours and a six.

Among batsmen with at least 500 ODI runs on English soil, Dhawan has the best average of 78.90.

Dhawan also became the fastest to score 1000 runs in 50-over ICC events, achieving the milestone in 16 innings compared to Sachin Tendulkar’s 18.
