File Pic[/caption]Kolkata: Some sort of relief for the fans and team management of Kingfisher East Bengal ahead of the all-awaited Kolkata derby on 9th April, as their star Haitian midfielder Wedson Anselme makes a return for the Red and Gold brigade after suffering from a serious injury in groin which had sidelined him for almost a month. Even a couple of days back it seemed the chances for him to feature in the Kolkata derby was very much unlikely. But today, the midfielder who has scored six goals already in the Hero I-League, made a successful outing to the East Bengal side when they played a practice match against the U18 boys of the club. The U18 boys surprised the senior team in the previous meeting in the last week when they held Morgan's team to a 2-2 draw. But today, the senior team had put up a much improved performance to steal the game by 3-1. The game was played in "closed door" and Semboi Haokip and Anwar were the other scorers.
In an interaction with www.xtratime.in , Trevor Morgan said, "Wedson played a half of 45 minutes today after recovering from the injury but I can't say much about his fitness. He scored a goal but I want to give more time to him ahead of our next game for coming to a decision on his availability."
The East Bengal coach left the club with anger after their previous practice game against the junior team. But today the gaffer seemed happy with the improvement. He said, "That is why I give importance in playing practice matches . On the previous day, we played three consecutive halves of 30 minutes each. But today, there were two halves of 45 minutes each and my boys have shown improvements. It was a good session."
East Bengal won't have any training session tomorrow and will have another "closed door" session on Friday.
