Internet Desk: Sachin Tendulkar celebrated his 44th birthday in front of a packed Wankhede Stadium during the Indian Premier League clash between Mumbai Indians and Rising Pune Supergiants. The entire stadium erupted in joy as the master blaster cut a cake on the sidelines along with Mathew Hayden.

The stadium erupted in one voice to wish Tendulkar happy birthday after he cut the cake.

While cutting the cake, former Aussie batsman Matthew Hayden asked the master blaster to cut the bat on the cake to which he replied, “You never cut a cricket bat...will cut the outfield to open up the gaps."

Asked about how he felt being turned 44, Sachin said, “Being 44 is nice but also covering those 44 years (has been nice). My movie is probably coming out on May 26th and I have been busy these days to ensure how best it is launched and can't believe I am 44."

Earlier in the day, he thanked all his friends and well wishers on his official twitter handle and facebook page.

During his 24-year career, Tendulkar accumulated 34357 runs in international cricket, more than any other batsmen in the world. He holds the record for most runs in one-day internationals and Test cricket.

In ODIs, he has scored 18,426 while in Tests he has 15,921 runs.

After his retirement in 2013, Tendulkar received the Bharat Ratna award and became a Rajya Sabha MP.
