Virat Kohli needs to play Chris Gayle in RCB XI, says Sourav Ganguly. Image Source: m.dailyhunt.in[/caption]Internet Desk: Virat Kohli led Royal Challengers Bangalore is going through a poor run in the Indian Premier League season 10. The Bangalore based outfit has only won one match in five encounters and is holding the last position in the cash-rich league.
One of the main reasons for their collapse is the West Indian power-hitter Chris Gayle’s off form. The Jamaican has only scored 58 runs in the three matches that he has played till now.
But the former Indian captain feels that RCB should find a way to include Gayle in the playing eleven as he is a pure match winner.
“What they need to think is that they need to find a way to get Chris Gayle back into the team, Gayle has to play in the IPL. Yes they have had a little bit of a tough time, I know they are trying to get Shane Watson play as an all-rounder but Watson has done nothing and he looks like a patch of his old self and maybe there can be a case of swapping him with Gayle at the top of the order. De Villiers can come down at No. 5 or 6 and finish the innings. They need to shuffle a bit because they have gone exactly the way they did last season,” Ganguly told India Today.
Watson was leading RCB in the absence of Virat Kohli, who missed the first few games due to his shoulder injury.
RCB were in a similar situation last year but Kohli inspired them to make it to the final.
According to Ganguly RCB have a tough task ahead and they must include Gayle in the side to recover from this stage.
“They are trying to climb from behind and it is getting difficult for them, they need to quickly find a solution but they need to find a way to get Chris Gayle back into the side because if Gayle fires he will win the game for RCB.”, he said.
Royal Challengers Bangalore will face Gujarat Lions in an Indian Premier League encounter today.
