Internet Desk: Former India captain and Rising Pune Supergiant’s wicket-keeper batsman Mahendra Singh Dhoni has been reprimanded by the match referee on Thursday for neglecting the Indian Premier League Code of Conduct.

Exactly why he was given a reprimand by match referee Manu Nayyar has not been specified by the IPL. "M.S. Dhoni admitted the Level 1 offence (Article 2.1.1) for conduct that is contrary to the spirit of the game," read an official IPL statement.

"For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding," it added.

During the high-octane clash, Dhoni had asked for a DRS referral when it was not for the taking. Pune started their journey in IPL season 10 with a nail biting win over two times champion Mumabai Indians on Thursday night at home.

Batting first, Mumbai posted a huge total on board in their allotted 20 overs, thanks to some brilliant batting by Hardik Pandya who scored 35 runs in just 15 deliveries.

In reply RPS won the match by seven wickets with one ball to spare. Captain Steve Smith remained not out on 84 from 54 balls and opener Ajinkya Rahane scored 60 of 34 balls. Dhoni scored an unbeaten 12 in the run chase.
