Sri Lankan Cricket has appointed former South African legend Allan Donald as bowling consultant.[/caption]Internet Desk: Former South African fast bowling legend Allan Donald has been appointed as the bowling consultant for the Sri Lanka team for the forthcoming ICC Champions Trophy. The Sri Lankan cricket board made the official announcement about Donald’s appointment on Sunday.
Nicknamed the “White Lightning” for his pace, Donald will be taking a two month break from his English county Kent to do the honours. The former South African pacer is presently the assistant coach at Kent.This is not the first time that Donald is being given such a role. He had earlier worked as a bowling consultant with the English team in 2007 before assisting Gary Kirsten as the Proteas bowling coach.
In 2008, Donald with former England spinner Ashley Giles led Warwickshire to 2nd Division County Championship title.
Donald will join Sri Lanka's preparatory camp for the Champions Trophy at the Pallekelle International Stadium from May 9-16.
Sri Lanka will face Scotland in two ODIs before playing further practice matches against Australia and New Zealand. The Lankans are placed in Group B and will play South Africa in their opening game at the Oval on June 3.
Donald has picked up 272 One day international wickets in his career spanning 12 years.
