Md Shami likely to make a comeback in test squad

Fast bowler to replace Hardik Pandya

Internet Desk: The Board of Control for Cricket in India's (BCCI) senior selection committee will pick the squad for the remaining two test matches against Australia on Wednesday in Bengaluru. There is unlikely be many changes in the 16 member squad that was picked for the first two test matches.

India's premier pace bowler Mohammad Shami is all certain to make a comeback in to the side in place of injured Hardik Pandya. Shami was in NCA recently for rehab, has recovered from a knee injury he sustained against England. He also played the last match for Bengal in Vijay Hazare Trophy.

Shami missed out for the limited over series against England and the one off Test against Bangladesh.

The selection committee headed by MSK Prasad will meet in Bengaluru to pick the squad.

Murali Vijay and KL Rahul remain the chosen opening pair with Tamil Nadu opener Abhinav Mukund likely to retain his place in the squad as the back-up opener.

The middle order will consist of Cheteswar Pujara, Virat Kohli, Ajinkya Rahane, Wriddhiman Saha, Karun Nair. The name of Rohit Sharma will also be discussed.

In the spin bowling department Ravichandran Ashwin and Jadeja are the automatic choices, given their exploits in the last two test matches. Jayant Yadav and chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav is also likely to retain their places.

In the fast bowling department Ishant Sharma is likely to keep his place in the 16 member squad. Umesh Yadav and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will also keep their places with Md Shami joining them.

Virat Kohli (Captain), M Vijay, KL Rahul, Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane, W Saha (wk), R Ashwin, R Jadeja, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav, Karun Nair, Jayant Yadav, Kuldeep Yadav, Abhinav Mukund and Md Shami.
