Kolkata: The Barasat Stadium became a riot as Kingfisher East Bengal receives a shocking defeat against Churchill Brothers today. The East Bengal organizers physically abused the fans as things started to go out of control.  There was no incident of arresting anyone but the police had to be on their toes to control the fans after the I-League leaders lost to Derrick Perrera's team. East Bengal player Cavin Lobo helped a fan from getting hurt after the match from further trouble as the fan was firstly stretched by the organizers on the floor and then a club worker punched him on his face.

East Bengal may be punished by the All India Football Federation after Assistant coach Warren Hackett was heard abusing referee Santosh Kumar and supporters who broke the cordon that marked the area for media’s interaction with players.

“I have seen what happened and will definitely mention them in my report,” said match commissioner Binod Singh, leaving with the referees nearly 90 minutes after this 13th round match ended.

The East Bengal fans first mocked their British coach with booing claps and then started shouting “go back Morgan” after the defeat.

Morgan said the first half was the worst they played defensively in the ongoing  Hero I-League. “Definitely as bad as it gets. It was the worst 45 minutes we have played so far. If we could make five substitutes, we would. I couldn’t believe what happened. The defense was nowhere."

Trevor also said, "Defensively they were sloppy, lazy and showed some poor decision making; doing things we don’t encourage. It was horrific. They had one striker and we have three players and he still goes and scores. People have jobs to do and we didn’t do them,” said Morgan. During the media interaction, Morgan said that he wished he could make seven substitutions

The East Bengal coach was reacting to goals from Anthony Wolfe and Ghanefo Kromah that put Churchill Brothers ahead by the 34th minute on Tuesday. Wolfe capitalised on an error from Ali to score the first goal and Kromah utilised an assist from the Churchill Brothers’ skipper for the second.

Morgan also said that the combination of Wolfe and Kromah made all the difference in the game and his defenders were all over the place.

In an interaction with www.xtratime.in Churchill Coach Derreck Perrera was saying, “It has been remarkable. I am giving my honest efforts as always, but the players are really responding well. It is a special win. Kolkata and football, the combination is divine."
