Kolkata: Darryl Duffy comes up on the top of the goal scorers' list as The Scottish forward helps Mohun Bagan to win a thriller at the Rabindra Sarobar Stadium today against a tenacious Aizawl FC side. The Green and Maroon brigade snatched the dramatic game by 3-2 against the Highlanders who had all the opportunities to produce another upset.

The Mohun Bagan side started the game in an emphatic fashion as Scottish forward Darryl Duffy scored a phenomenal individual goal in the first minute of the game when Katsumi Yusa delivered an inviting low cross from the left flank and Duffy found the top corner of the far post through an acrobatic header. The attempt gave Aizawl goalkeeper Albino Gomes no chance what so ever to put it away.

Mohun Bagan got their second chance in the 9th minute when Subhasish Bose delivered a great ball from the left but Duffy's powerful header was tipped away brilliantly by the Aizwal custodian Albino. Mohun Bagan was without their star winger Sony Norde but Katsumi Yusa on the left and Prabir Das on the right tried their heart out to fill the void of the Haitian.

Combative Khalid Jamil's team created the first threatening move in the 28th minute when the dangerous Alfred failed to put the ball at the back of the net.

The Highlanders didn't have to wait for too long to score the equalizer when Jayesh Rane found the back of the net with an opportunistic finish after getting a fine cross by Bayi Kamo in the 41st minute.

The second half offered a mouth-watering contest as both the teams played some enthralling attacking football. In the 54th minute Aizwal got a good opportunity as Sehnaj pulled down Jaryan yards outside the box. Jayesh Rane took it and his attempt drooped down but was ultimately over the bar.

Mohun Bagan got the lead in the 63rd minute as Jeje scored against his local side Aizawl FC with a calm left footed finish from a delectable square by Prabir. It was Pronay Halder who saw Prabir running to the right and provided a quality pass to him. Jeje converted the opportunity with a classy finish.

Aizwal crawled back immediately in the 70th minute when Jayesh Rane sent in the in-swinging corner and Asutosh Mehta was guarded by no one. He was with a simple leap and head and that too with much ease to make it 2-2.

The drama was still left in the game when Mehta brought down Katsumi inside the box to concede a penalty kick in the 84th minute. Darryl Duffy made no mistake from the sport kick to score his sixth goal of the competition to steal the game from the nose of an immensely impressive Aizawl FC side.

Though the result ended up in the favour of the Mariners and they caught up the league leaders East Bengal with equal points, the performance of Sanjoy Sen's team's defense in this game will be a huge concern for the gaffer before the Kolkata derby on the February 12.
