The former India captain after discussing the matter with his family and friends has decided to file the complaint. He has requested in the complaint to increase the security of him and his family members. Sourav is also contemplating going to Midnapore (W) to attend the District Sports Association function on January 19.
Sourav received a letter with a death threat from Mr Zulfaqar Ali, if he travelled to Midnapore (W) to attend a District Sports Association program. He was supposed to be the chief guest for a program organized by the District Sports Association.
The threat has come from some unknown person named Mr Zulfaqar Ali who represents All India Anti Corruption Committee. His registration number is Regd. MAH/339/98/THN. The letter is addressed to Mrs. Nirupa Ganguly (Sourav’s mother), Mrs. Dona Ganguly and Mr. Snehasish Ganguly.
Mr Ali alleged in the letter addressed to Mrs Nirupa Ganguly that one of the CAB sub-committee member from West Midnapore, Mr Asish Chakraborty has done fraud in Midnapore. He had warned her not to send her son (Sourav), else he will face the consequences.
Meanwhile, Ashish Chakraborty, who is also the local MLA has asked Sourav to send him a copy of the letter. According to Mr Chakraborty, “I haven’t yet received the copy of the letters from Sourav. It would have been easy to trace the person. I have already informed Midnpore (W) SP Bharati Ghosh.”
On being asked what might be the reason for the allegations against him, he said, “I feel I am a victim of inner politics of the party.”
