Kolkata: The Cricket Association of Bengal(CAB) on Tuesday announced the 15 men squad for the upcoming Syed Mustaq Ali(East Zone) T-20 tournament. The prestigious Syed Mustaq Ali Trophy will commence from 29th January.

The five teams which are set to lock horns in the East Zone are Bengal, Tripura, Orissa, Assam and Jharkhand. Matches will be contested in Eden Gardens, Kalyani and Jadavpur University Campus.

Bengal are one of the strongest competitors of this zone as the team looks all set to reclaim it's lost pride under the leadership of Manoj Tiwary. They will start their campaign on the 31st against Tripura and then on 1st February vs Assam. The new additions to the squad are Bengal's new bowling sensation Kanishk Seth, Abhishek Raman and Pramod Chandila. With seniors like Debabrata das, who wants to capitalize upon a good domestic season for his club Mohunbagan, and captain Tiwary himself, the team look on course to provide a decent showing on the shorter version of the game.

Bengal’s new bowling sensation Kanishk is thankful to CAB for what they did for him. He told,” Few years ago I was forced to stop playing cricket due to a major back injury, but CAB sent me to NCA for the rehabilitation and only for them I am playing cricket now. I am thankful to them for giving a chance in the Syed Mustaq Ali T-20 tournament and I will give my level best for Bengal.”

The excitement and hype regarding the tournament can reach a new height as Indian legend Mahendra Singh Dhoni said that he'll like to play for Jharkhand in the domestic cups to keep himself fit for the upcoming Indian Premier League and Champions Trophy, so after India's ongoing series against the Britishers culminate on the 1st of February, we could once again get some taste of the helicopter shot in city as Jharkhand are going to play in Kolkata itself.
