Giroud's late winner helps Arsenal to win against West Brom

Image Source: Chelsea twitter[/caption]Internet Desk: Premier league leaders Chelsea notched up their twelfth successive league victory of the season by putting up a formidable three goal victory against AFC Bournemouth at the Stamford Bridge Stadium on Monday.
The Blues were missing two of their pillars of the rejuvenating team, striker Diego Costa and midfielder N’Golo Kante through suspension, however the current instinct of the Antonio Conte managed outfit is too good in bench strength as well. Pedro Rodriguez and Cesc Fabregas slotted in for the suspended duo, and they were the architects behind the first goal. Pedro curled in an audacious chip from a Fabregas assist on the 24th minute, giving Chelsea the all important lead. Since then it was quite a de-ja- vu for the London side as they defended with pure composure, disabling Bournemouth from possessing any major threats to the defence.
In the second half, Eden Hazard earned a penalty and converted it successfully on the 49th minute, thus earning his 9th goal of the season and 50th Overall Premier leafue goal respectively. Bournemouth tried their best by bringing in youngster Jordan Ibe and maintaining a superior ball possession then Chelsea, but all their efforts went In vain as they were unable to find out an equaliser.
The Cherries were further embarrassed when at the stroke of full time, Pedro scored his second of the evening and brought up the teams third. The win means Chelsea sit top of the table with 49 points out of 18 games played. Chelsea had 14 shots, out of which 5 have been on target and 5 corners when compared to Bournemouth’s 7 shots(4 on target) and 5 corners.
Chelsea next play Stoke City on 31st December at the bridge, which will be their last match at home. The West London outfit will have a huge morale booster as they will have Costa and Kante back in the squad.
In other match, Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal maintained their top four challenge with a narrow one goal victory over West Bromwich Albion. Marksman Olivier Giroud bagged the winner from a Mesut Ozil assist. Arsenal sit 3rd with 37 points out of 18 matches.
