
Internet Desk: Brazilian soccer legend Pele led the football fraternity in paying rich tributes to the victims of Colombia plane crash. Joining the Brazilian is former world cup winning Argentina captain Diego Maradona.
Players of the Chapecoense Real team were among 81 people on board the doomed flight that crashed into mountains in northwestern Colombia. Colombian officials said just six people were thought to have survived, including three of the players.
Chapecoense had risen from obscurity to make it to the Copa Sudamericana finals scheduled for Wednesday against Atletico Nacional of Colombia.
Football fraternity all over the world paid tributes to the tragic incident. Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona observed a minutes silence ahead of their practice sessions.
Pele posted a message on his official twitter handle. "Brazilian football is in mourning. It is such a tragic loss. My sincere condolences to the families of the deceased. Rest in Peace." Pele, 76, wrote on Twitter.

Argentine soccer legend Diego Maradona also joined in paying tributes to the victims. In a facebook post Maradona wrote,"My condolences to the families of the Chapecoense team, from Brazil, and all the people who died in the tragic plane crash in Colombia. Unfortunately these boys, who were struggling their way to football, took the wrong plane. From today I am a fan of #Chapecoense...."

In Spain, top teams Real Madrid and Barcelona each held a minute's silence at their training sessions. Both the clubs posted a picture from their training sessions.


Tributes poured in from clubs all over the world . Top Premier League club Manchester United tweetd , "The thoughts of everyone at Manchester United are with @Chapeconense & all those affected by the tragedy in Colombia."

Argentina and Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi in a message on his facebook post wrote, "My deepest condolences to all families, friends and supporters of the team Chapecoense. #FuerzaChape "

Joining the football fraternity was Indian Super League sides Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters. Both the teams observed a minutes silence ahead of their ISL clash on Tuesday night.
