Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr have been nominated for the Puskas award. Image Source: ok.ru[/caption]Internet Desk: Barcelona superstars Lionel Messi and Neymar have been nominated for the prestigious Puskas award. The award, constituted in 2009 by FIFA was given to the best goal of the year.
Messi’s goal for Argentina against the USA in the Copa America has been included on the shortlist.
Messi’s teammate in, Neymar’s stunning effort in the Catalan’s win against Villarreal last season has also been nominated.
Other candidates from La Liga players include Villarreal’s Mario Gaspar’s goal against England and Saul Niguez’s solo effort for Atletico Madrid against Bayern Munich in the Champions League semifinal.
Malasysian club Penang’s prolific goal scorer Mohd Faiz Subri’s goal in the Malaysian Super League also has been shortlisted.
Venezuelan women footballer Daniuska Rodriguez also finds her name in the shortlisted candidates. Her effort against Colombia during the South American U-17 Women’s Football Championship is also in the running for the best goal of the year.
