Internet Desk: Ten minutes after Russia’s track and field Olympic ban was confirmed Usain Bolt felt a tap on his shoulder.

The shock waves from the momentous decision were still being felt as the world’s fastest man spun round to be greeted by a doping control officer.

If Russia think they are unfairly singled out by the IAAF, athletics’ governing body, here was timely proof that even the sport’s greatest star is under close scrutiny.

“Do you believe they love me now?” Bolt posted on Snapchat, over a photo of his IAAF doping control notification.

“I’m tested all the time, year upon year,” he added, stretching out his left arm to show from where his blood had been taken. “IAAF test me all the time, Wada test me, everybody tests me.”

As Bolt spoke, Russian pole vault queen Yelena Isinbayeva was lashing out at the decision by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) to uphold the IAAF ban against her country’s 68 track and field stars.

Bolt initially seemed reluctant to comment on a verdict which removes the biggest obstacle standing between Olympic chiefs and imposing a blanket ban on Russia competing in Rio.

“It’s sad, but rules are rules and I don’t make the rules - I just go along with them,” he said, before appearing to find a second wind.

“Doping violations in track and field is getting really bad, so if you feel like you need to make a statement and this is how you feel like you need to make a statement then thumbs up.

Bolt, who won three golds in Rio 2016, included two smiling emojis with the photo along with the message: "My best friends they never leave me alone."
