Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption]Internet Desk: Helder Postiga’s availability for Atletico de Kolkata in their next tie against FC Goa on Sunday looks to be in doubts as the Portugese international is yet to regain full fitness. The marquee footballer of ATK sustained an injury in the second match of his side against Kerala Blasters.
Postiga aggravated a rib injury which has been troubling him for quite some time. Atletico coach Molina had to substitute Postiga as early in the 16th minute of the match. Juan Carlos Bolencoso replaced the Portugese footballer. The injury has been troubling him since due to which he had to miss ATK’s last tie against Mumbai City FC.
Postiga did not take part in the practice session on Thursday. He was seen training separately with the physio, doing some stretching. The team management seems to be keeping their fingers crossed as far as Postiga's fitness is concerned.
Postiga had to miss the entire season of ISL 2 after he sustained an injury in the first match against Chennaiyin FC. Atletico de Kolkata officials will be hoping the injury is not so serious.
The Atletico management is troubled with injuries to key footballers in their side. With Postiga looking doubtful for Sunday’s fixture against last year’s runners up FC Goa, several other footballers are also having slight niggles. Tiri and side back Robert are also nursing injuries. But the good news for the Kolkata outfit is their mercurial striker Iain Hume looks fit. The Canadian striker had to be substituted in the last match against Mumbai City FC. But he was seen taking part in the practice session of the team today.
The inaugural ISL champions have so far garnered 5 points from 3 matches and are placed 3rd in the points table. On the other hand FC Goa are yet to win a match this season (FC Goa play Chennaiyin FC tonight at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Chennai).
North East FC leads the point table with 9points from 4 matches.
