Smt Santosh Yadav Blames Lack Of Experience For Deaths In Everest. Image : Twitter[/caption]Kolkata : The woman who touched the Everest Summit twice in her life, the Leader, Padmashri & Arjuna Award winner Smt. Santosh Yadav blamed lack of experience of the mountaineers for deaths in Everest at a press meet arranged today. She has been visiting and delivering lectures on leadership, motivation and risk management in many Govt institutions. She has devoted her services in encouraging women specially girls to enable them their rightful place in Indian society.
First she was asked, as there are some allegations regarding Nepal Government & Sherpa’s that they are not giving every needful things and help to the mountaineers for the expedition, she replied,"The climbers and the Sherpas must help each other through the journey to the peak as it is a mutual understanding between them, these days most of the mountaineers are going to Everest with just a formal training in their kitty without any experience of mountain climbing. For this reason they are completely depending on the Sherpas. They don’t even know how to build their path through the ice that’s why all the pressure is totally on the Sherpas."
She also said that during 1992,1993 the total cost of climbing was much lower as they had to spend approx 4 lakh each but now-a-days the mountaineers pay 20 lakhs each. She said,"he mountain climbing institutes just want the money these days they don’t even check the physical conditions of the climbers."
During 90’s they had to train really hard before they start their expedition and they had to walk through 15 days to reach the base camp , but these days the climbers can reach their by helicopter , these extra facilities are not helping the mountaineers as they cannot judge their capabilities .
She also pointed two main reasons for these incidents, firstly,” if you are inexperienced as a climber then it’s a suicide mission to climb the Everest , because a person cannot climb Mount Everest with only a formal training “ . Secondly the greed for climbing the Everest is the other reason for death as many climbers doesn’t care about their physical capabilities and start their journey to show the world that they can touch the highest peak.
