The Indo-Czech pair defeated unseeded pair of Canada’s Gabriela Dabrowski and Spain’s Maria Jose Martina Sanchez 4-6, 6-3, 10-5 to enter the finals in Tokyo on Friday.
The second seeds earlier won against Japan’s Miyu Kato and China’s Yifan Xu 6-2, 6-2 in their quarter-final encounter.
The pair will now meet the winners of the match between China’s Chen Liang and Zhaoxuan Yang and third seeded Raquel Atawo and Abigail Spears from the United States.
This is Sania and Strycova’s third tournament together. In August, Sania and Strycova won the Cincinnati Open title with a 7-5 6-4 win in the final against her previous partner Martina Hingis and Coco Vandeweghe. However, the pair was humiliated in straight sets in the quarter finals of US Open to Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic.
