Image : zimbio.com[/caption]Internet Desk : It was a bad day for India in Paralympics as Indian Powerlifter Farman Basha just missed the bronze by a whisker after he finished his event in the men’s 49kg category at fourth in Rio Paralympic Games on Thursday.
Farman , also represented Team India in Paralympic Games 2012 successfully lifted 140 kg in his first attempt , but then fail to reach the expectation as he missed his second and third attempt of 150 kg and 155 kg respectively ,and finished his event at fourth.
Vietnam’s Le Van Cong won the gold medal after he created a world record by lifting 181 kg in his final attempt , while Quarda Omar bagged the silver and Hungary’s Tunkel Nundor finished in third with a Bronze.
However Farman came nearest to a medal on the inaugural day of the games but his fellow countrymen failed to reach in the next rounds in their respective events . In 10m air rifle Naresh Kumar hadn’t even reached the final as he finished at 21st in the standings , one other event discus thrower Amit Kumar Saroha ended his dream as he finished at seventh spot.
