Kolkata: Daniel Bidemi's breathtaking performance against United Sports Club brings a feel of solace as Mohun Bagan beat an upbeat United Sports Club by 3-1 in a nail-biting contest today at the Mohun Bagan Ground.

Mohun Bagan got an early goal in the 19th minute as Daniel Bidemi's cracking left-footer rattled the back of the net. Bidemi received a fine pass from Pankaj Moula which he shielded brilliantly with his right foot and then drilled the left-footer at the top corner of the net,

United Sports came back immediately into the game as Budhiram Tudu scored a sublime individual goal to equalize in the 23rd minute. The amount of skill involved in that goal was indeed phenomenal. It was a pity that Budhiral had to leave the ground in the 34th minute due to a hamstring injury.

Budhiram's exit made the life easier for the Mariners as Duffy gave the lead immediately after a minute to make it 2-1. Tanmoy made an inviting cross from the right flank as Duffy scored with a precision header leaving Sangram Mukherjee completely helpless.

In the 52nd minute Raju Gaikwad's controversial hand ball inside the box gave an opportunity to United Sports Club to get a penalty in their favour but the referee turned down the appeal immediately.

Getting shocked and disgustedby the decision, United Sports Club official Nabab Bhattacharya said,"What the referee did was a consequence of the incessant pressure he was undergoing. I would like to give a proposal to the IFA to restrict the Premier A Division league among three teams. We should play another league without relegation process as it has been a popular idea these days in Indian football. IFA too can manage their expenditure through it. Had it been 2-2 at that point, we could have witnessed a different game. But who will understand that?".

In the 56th Minute Bidemi scored his second goal to make it 3-1 with a fine grounder as United custodian made a poor mistake. After conceding the third goal, United tried to come back strongly into the game as Suhair VP's effort came off the crosspiece. In the 69th minute, Sankar Oraon's powerful strike needed an excellent save from Arnab Das Sharma.

Though Mohun Bagan is yet to declare their standpoint in playing the Kolkata Derby on the 7th September, this victory would certainly lift the morale of the side before the "CFL decider".

After the match, Man of the match Daniel Bidemi said, "I am happy to be a part of my team's success but would have been happy to get a hattrick." On asking him about his plan for derby, the Nigerian played it straight saying, "Who does not want to score in derby? Derby is the match where you can draw crowd's attention.'

Coach Shankarlal Chakraborty said, "Its good to be back with a win. We need to keep the momentum going." Regarding Unied SC's being denied from a genuine penalty, the gaffer added, "The referee's decision is the final one and I cannot comment on that. For me it was difficult to view from such long range."

Scottish striker Darryl Duffy expressed his frustration after he was replaced Amiri, Duffy said, "I was expecting a second goal but it did not happen. So I threw my hands in the air in frustration nothing else."
