File Picture[/caption]Internet Desk : After taking 10- wickets in Kanpur Test against the Kiwis, Indian off- Spinner R Ashwin moved to the second spot in the latest ICC Bowling Rankings and good show in the second test match in Kolkata would help him to gain the top spot in the ICC Test Rankings.
Ashwin’s bowling of 10 for 225, helped India to win the Kanpur Test with a huge margin of 197-runs and pushed him to surpass England’s James Anderson at the second spot by a solitary point.
The Indian off-spinner is just seven points behind the South African speed star Dale Steyn, who leads the Ranking for Test Bowlers with 878 points.
A strong bowling performance in the Kolkata Test, starting Friday, will help Ashwin to reach at the top of bowling charts for the second time in 2016 after first claiming the number-one position last year following the Boxing Day Tests.
Ashwin also contributed with a useful innings of 40 to consolidate his position at the top of the list of all-rounders in Tests. Ashwin has reached a career-best rating of 450, opening up a 66-point gap with second-placed Shakib Al Hasan of Bangladesh.
