Internet Desk: Brazil ended with a disappointing draw in the first match of their Rio journey. The host team was held by 10-men South Africa in a goalless draw. Such performance of the Gold seekers made star attraction Neymar frustrated too.

"For us the draw is a defeat," said Neymar.

He also added, "It is not just a case of turning up and winning the gold medal. The team went on the field to win, we know our responsibility, we know it isn't going to be easy.”

Among the 16 football teams competing in this Olympic only Brazil has two star players. If Neymar is the first choice then the second one is the Manchester City’s new joining Gabriel Jesus. However, both the star players could not make the path open for at least one goal in their first match.

In 22nd minute Jesus hit one shot which hit the bar post. After that no situation for scoring came in focus. The visitor team held firm despite the dismissal of Mothobi Mvala shortly before the hour for a second yellow card.

"The first game is always the most difficult due to the anxiety of the competition starting," added Neymar. "I think the anxiety hurt us a bit."

Six football matches were played last night in different cities of Brazil. In those matches defending champion Mexico was also stuck by a 2-2 draw against Germany. However, defending Bronze medalist South Korea made a huge win over much weak Fiji by 8-0.

Unfortunately Argentina lost their first match. Portugal's stunning summer after winning Euro 2016 could get even more golden as they saw off Argentina 2-0 to the delight of the Brazilian crowd in Rio.

Other match results:

Denmark vs Iraq- 0-0

Honduras vs Algeria- 3-2

Colombia vs Sweden- 2-2

Nigeria vs Japan- 5-4
