Internet Desk: Previously he claimed. Now he named himself ‘greatest’.

Jamaican superstar finally completed his triple-triple on Friday. Before leaving the Olympic track and field he made the mark that will obviously make everyone name him as ‘greatest’.

Friday was the last chance for Bolt to complete his triple-triple. The Jamaica relay team was on for 4*400m run. After the 100m and 200m it was his challenge for Bolt to lift the team to a Gold. And he did it.

"There you go, I'm the greatest," Bolt told reporters afterwards. "I'm going to stay up late and have fun. I never knew this would happen when I started out."

It is time to start packing up the party. After three Olympics when Bolt has illuminated both track and field and the wider world around him, the Games are at last over. It made his final Olympic bow here in Rio on this warm Friday evening both a celebration and a sadness, the pleasure of remembering all that has come before tinged with regret that there will be no more.

"I'm sad but I'm happy too," he said. "It's been wonderful and I really appreciate you guys, it's been nothing but love, it gives me goosebumps. Thanks for all your support."

He has not escaped entirely from the spreading stain. Powell was back as part of the victorious Jamaican quartet on Friday night. He passed the baton to Yohan Blake. Finally it was Bolt who took the responsibility to lead the team winning starting at last. Bolt powered down the straight to finish five metres clear of Japan's Aska Cambridge.

"My team came through for me tonight," Bolt said. "As long as we got the baton around, it was never in doubt."
