Internet Desk: Maria Sharapova enjoyed some down time on the beach on Monday.

The tennis player, who is currently appealing her two-year ban for using a prohibited substance, was seen playing beach tennis in Hermosa Beach, California on Monday.

The 29-year-old looked relaxed as she spent time with friends at the beach volleyball court.

Maria went barefoot and wore a long blue-and-white dress with a sheer skirt over a shorter black dress.

The Wimbledon champ, 29, left her long blonde hair down and went makeup free.

The Russian-born tennis player will not participate in the Rio Olympics after the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland pushed back the date to hear her appeal.

Maria was banned from professional tennis for two years after testing positive for Meldonium at the Australian Open in January.

While waiting for her appeal to be heard, she has been keeping busy focusing on her business career.

In July, she spent two weeks doing work experience at advertising agency VCCP in London.

She added sunglasses and espadrilles, and carried a small handbag.

Maria is not the only high-profile tennis player who will not be competing at Rio, casting doubts on tennis' role in the Olympics.

The men's tennis event will be missing top 20 players Federer, Milos Raonic, Tomas Berdych, Dominic Thiem, Richard Gasquet, John Isner, Feliciano Lopez and Nick Kyrgios.

The women's singles are stripped of Simona Halep, Victoria Azarenka, who is pregnant, Belinda Bencic and Karolina Pliskova.
