Wayne Rooney excited to play under Jose Mourinho. 36ng.com.ng[/caption]Internet Desk: Wayne Rooney has said working under José Mourinho will give him extra motivation. Rooney says he is “really excited” by the prospect of working under Jose Mourinho at Manchester United next season as the Portuguese prepares for his first match this weekend.
Mourinho takes charge of United for the first time on Saturday when they travel to Wigan Athletic in their first pre-season fixture. While Rooney is not available as he is on a break following Euro 2016, he will return in time for the club’s summer tour to China when the captain is relishing teaming-up with the 53-year-old.
Mourinho has made several attempts to sign Rooney during his managerial career, most notably at Real Madrid and during his second spell at Chelsea, but he will finally get the opportunity to work with the England captain at Old Trafford this season.
Rooney is expected to report back for training on 18 July before the eight-day trip to China, where United play Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City. United face Championship side Wigan Athletic at the DW Stadium in a pre-season friendly on Saturday afternoon with new signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Eric Bailly in contention.
