East Bengal, Mohammedan to participate in Kolkata Futsal League 2016

Kolkata: When East Bengal and Mohammedan Sporting with the other six teams of the CFL Premier Division are participating in the Kolkata Futsal League 2016 (KFL), Mohun Bagan have decided to stay away from this mega event. Even, Bhawanipur too is participating in this event but why Mohun Bagan is not participating, I.F.A Secretary Utpal Ganguly said, "We had contacted Mohun Bagan on this issue but they said that they are not yet ready to participate."

Apart from eight men's team, six of the women's team will also participate in the KFL. The tournament will commence from 8th July while the final is to be held on 16th July. The tournament is structured in a knock-out system. The men's champion team will receive Rs 40,000 and the runners team will receive Rs.25,000. For the women's team the winner will receive Rs 30,000 while the runner-up will receive Rs 20,000.

This five-a-side tournament will have a registration of 10 players with one foreigner allowed to play. Jagriti Sangha from Garia is the main creator of this tournament but as I.F.A is the main organiser of KFL 2016, so the I.F.A registered clubs can only play in this tournament.

Utpal Ganguly signed off saying, "Ahead of the CFL all the footballers from various clubs can take it as a warm-up tournament which will be in a competitive manner."

M.L.A and footballer Dipendu Biswas said, "Futsal is a popular league all over the world. Each and every footballers are very much eager to play in Futsal league. Even legendary footballers after retirement comes and participate in this league. There is no doubt that it will be a hit in Kolkata in the next few days."
