File Pic[/caption]Kolkata: Trevor James Morgan signed one year contract with East Bengal for the upcoming 2016-17 season and send it through an e-mail to the club officials today. Trevor said, " Yes, I have signed the one year contract with East Bengal today and had send it to Football secretary, Santosh Bhattacharya through an e-mail."
Trevor started his second stint as East Bengal at the business end of the last season. He was in charge for East Bengal for the Federation Cup but failed to show a good performance. He went back to Perth, Australia in the first week of May without signing the dotted lines but carried the contract paper with him.
In the meantime, he was admitted to hospital with stomach infection and there was a long delay with his signing. Speculations were that Trevor was unhappy with the amount being given to him. Trevor had a series of discussions with the club officials regarding his contract issues and at last they have to come an solution he signed the dotted lines today.
Trevor Morgan did not want to reveal anything about when he is coming to Kolkata for the pre-season training and about the new support staff. It is known East Bengal have retained Sammy Omollo as the assistant coach whereas Debjit Ghosh has resigned earlier with goalkeeper coach, Sanjay Majhi being released already.
"I am not aware of the fact that when will I be coming to Kolkata for the pre-season as depends on East Bengal officials. Regarding the issue of support staff, I was planning to bring 2-3 new supporting staff, but the club official;s have already said it will be difficult for them toafford them. So it is likely that, I may bring a physio and a physical trainer with me", he signed off.
According to Santosh Bhattacharya, "Now we are relieved that he has signed already and we will start planning for the new season accordingly. As he is the coach, whatever he wants we will trey to provide him the most we can."
As it is known that, it will be difficult for the East Bengal officials to set up the pre-season training date from so early because I.F.A has not yet set up the calendar for the new season.
