Image Source: Xtra Time[/caption]Kolkata: Veteran photo journalist of Aajkaal newspaper, Bikash Sadhu, passed away on Sunday evening after prolonged illness at a private hospital here. Sadhu, who left behind his wife, a son and daughter, was 64.
Sadhu retired from Aajkaal, a leading Bengali newspaper, four years back, fell ill in February this year and was in and out of hospital before breathing his last.
During his career, Sadhu covered all the important National and International events in India and abroad, the notable being Wimbledon, European soccer championship, 2012 Olympics in London and cricket world cups. He also went on several tours with Indian cricket team.
Sadhu began as a freelancer working for many publications including Aajkaal group before being observed in the photo department in 1985. He retired in 2012 from the group but continued to cover important events for the publication.
Sadhu was associated with the Sports Photographers Association of Bengal and served the organization for six years as its secretary. He was quite popular among younger generation and helped a number of budding shutterbugs take up the profession.
