Zidane to visit India soon. Image Source: 90min.com[/caption]Internet Desk: TATA Motors, a global car manufacturer company had previously appointed Lionel Messi as its global brand ambassador. They started with Messi and now they are set to bring in Zinedine Zidane to India. The deal was confirmed before he signed the dotted lines for Real Madrid as their coach. Official announcement will be made soon by TATA Motors. This is not the first time Zinedine Zidane is visiting a sub-continent nation. He visited Bangladesh earlier for the inauguration of a football tournament organized by Mohammed Younis. But Zizou’s visit to India will be for the very first time.
Earlier, popular football legends have visited on various occasions. Recently Ronaldiniho visited Kerala for the inauguration of Nagjee International Football tournament. Brazilian legend Pele too visited India during ISL to attend the final of the Subroto Cup. Argentine Superstar Lionel Messi, played an International friendly for Argentina against Venezuela in 2011, Germany’s best goal-keeper till now Oliver Kahn played his last match for Bayern Munich against Mohun Bagan at Salt Lake Stadium. Even Diego maradona had a visit to Kolkata.
It’s a good sign that a lot of European clubs especially Premier league clubs are showing an interest to invest in Indian Football.
Meanwhile, business tycoons like Mittal have invested in Premier league club Queens Park Rangers and recently one of the top poultry firms in India Venky's has a percentage of stake at Blackburn Rovers.
As long as business tycoons from India are showing their interest in football, Indian football will develop but it will be interesting to see how AIFF utilise the football sense of Zidane.
