Internet Desk: Indian skipper Virat Kohli is in high spirits after team India beat South Africa in their final group game to qualify for the semi-finals of Champions Trophy 2017 and has been trying to get the players to connect with each other.

During India’s journey to Birmingham for the semi-final face-off with Bangladesh, Kohli posed for a photograph with the boys.

Kohli uploaded the photo on Twitter captioned: “With the boys yesterday at our stopover from London to Birmingham.”

The picture had Mohammed Shami, Kedar Jadhav, Jasprit Bumrah, Hardik Pandya, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli standing together and showing the prevalent enthusiasm among the players.

The Indian team celebrated their victory against South Africa on Sunday by relaxing on Monday and Tuesday since the boys will have to practice hard on Wednesday as they prepare for their match against Bangladesh in the second semi-final in Birmingham on Thursday.

Kohli re-gaining the highest batting spot in the latest ICC ODI Player Rankings, released on Tuesday after the final round of league matches in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 is among the many reasons for the Indian captain to be pleased.

Initially, when Kohli entered the tournament Kohli, he was 22 points below AB de Villiers of South Africa, then No. 1 (who had been No.1 since 25 February 2017) and 19 points behind Australia’s David Warner. However, followed by knocks of 81 not out against Pakistan and 76 not out against South Africa, he has made his way to the top of the list, ahead of de Villiers and Warner.

Sadly enough, Kohli enjoyed the number-one spot for only four days in January 2017. However, he now plans to do better when he clashes with Bangladesh in the second semi-final at Edgbaston on Thursday.

Kohli has said that the players will not be taking it easy against their Asian rivals. "We played in Birmingham before. We like that pitch. It suits our game," said Kohli after the win over South Africa. "There's no looking back. There's always room for improvement. We can't rest on your laurels.”
