Debasis Sen, Hyderabad: India wicket-keeper batsman Wriddhiman Saha, who hogged the limelight on Friday along with Virat Kohli after scoring his second hundred in test cricket is not keen on following Sunday’s I League derby.

The first I League derby between Kolkata arch rivals East Bengal and Mohun Bagn will be played in Saha’s hometown Siliguri. But Wriddhi himself is not interested in following the derby.

According to Saha, “I used to be a big follower of Bhaichung Bhutia during his playing days. But ever since his retirement I have stopped watching Indian football. I supported the club which he played for.”

He added, "I did watch the derby on TV when Bhaichung used to play. But I never had an opportunity to watch a derby live on the ground."

Wriddhiman welcomed the derby being played at Siliguri’s Kanchenjunga stadium.

“It is good to have the derby being played in Siliguri. I hope it will be a very exciting match between the two teams,” said Saha after his press conference in Hyderabad.

Wridhi, a die-hard fan of Michael Schumacher loves watching the F1. According to his wife Romi, “To be honest I have not seen him interested about Indian football. He is a big follower of F1 and never misses the race-days.”

Wriddhi’s father Prashanta Saha was a goalkeeper himself. He used to take his son to Siliguri Agragami club where he started playing cricket in his early days. His father in law Rathin Mitra was a goalkeeper as well as he used to be a goalkeeper of Md Sporting club.

Wriddhi, who plays for Mohun Bagan in local club cricket does not know about the current footballers players like Sony Norde, Katsumi Yuasa and others.

According to Saha, “I do not know them (Mohun Bagan footballers) personally. Neither did I had any interaction with them.”
