Image Source: XtraTime[/caption]Kolkata: The incidents of black magics and religious activities during a derby match is nothing new in the context of world football. From Africa to the third world countries, this superstition has been a trend in world football over the years. Even in the age of technology and science, the myth and superstitions continue to engulf the hard work and endeavour the players put in everyday to keep their head held high. Unfortunately, the Kolkata derby too has got involved to it a number of occasions. This time, in the first Kolkata derby of the 2017 I-League at Siliguri, a saint named Biswaprakash Majumder will be seen to do his religious activities in the hope to help East Bengal to win the biggest rivalry of Indian football and that too in terms of the instructions of the East Bengal officials.
Mohun Bagan's former midfielder and present manager Satyajit Chatterjee reacted the moment he came to know about it from www.xtratime.in . He said, "Superstitions were there in our times as well. It is there on these days as well. But doing all those activities by entering into the playing surface is something I have seen happening."
East Bengal had started this practice from the very first day of this I-League season and Biswaprakash has done all his work in all the games they played at the Barasat Stadium. He does his activities behind the goal posts, East Bengal dressing room and in front of the Red and Gold dugouts.
But the Mohun Bagan manager was saying, "They can do whatever they like to do in the dressing room. But we will take action accordingly if they do it inside of the playing territory."
Biswaprakash was seen during the training sessions at the Bidhannagar Municipan Sports Complex as well.
The saint who worships Goddess Maa Kaali, has already arrived at Siliguri for the derby. But he was reluctant in speaking about his work, as he told, "The officials have asked me to keep silent about this matter and I cannot say anything about it."
It is see how the new drama turns out tomorrow in the evergreen rivalry of Indian football culture.
